Mexico Volcanoes

Each winter GoTrek travels to Mexico to climb Iztaccíhuatl and Pico de Orizaba. The volcanoes offer straightforward glacier climbing and an opportunity to learn how the body performs at moderately high altitude before larger objectives such as Aconcagua or Denali.

Craig has guided these climbs for decades, with more than fifty ascents of Orizaba. Spanish-speaking guides and a small team keep the trip personal while making room for the history, food, and daily life of Mexico.

Culture & setting

The journey includes time in Mexico City, the pyramids of Teotihuacan, the Museum of Anthropology, local markets, and the colonial city of Puebla. These stops also create a more gradual acclimatization schedule before the climbs.
