Everest Base Camp: 10 days or 18 days?

GoTrek offers an 18-day Everest Base Camp program and a shorter 10-day option. Choose through a discussion of your experience, available time, route, and flight arrangements. The shorter program needs its own preparation and acclimatization review.

What the extra time changes

The 18-day option allows a longer journey in the Khumbu. Ask how the proposed program divides walking, rest, local travel, and time in Kathmandu. A program length should not be confused with a promise that every day is spent trekking.

The 10-day option is planned around your experience, acclimatization needs, and helicopter arrangements. The published price excludes the additional helicopter cost. GoTrek confirms the detailed routing and whether the shorter option is appropriate for your team.

Get the flight plan in writing

Before comparing totals, establish which flights are planned, where they operate, what is included, and what remains to be quoted. Ask how weather disruption, extra hotel nights, or changes to the agreed program would be handled.

The lower trekking price of the shorter option is not the same as a confirmed lower total travel budget. Compare the complete written proposal, including the flight quote, rather than the two headline figures alone.

Bring useful experience information

Share your recent multi-day walking trips, previous altitude exposure, training, and flexibility around dates. Neither a short program nor a helicopter arrangement removes the need for an appropriate mountain plan. Discuss personal medical questions with a qualified clinician and the guide before travel.

  • How many days are walking days and where are the overnight stops?
  • What acclimatization and contingency time is proposed?
  • What are the confirmed helicopter routing and costs?
  • What local support is included alongside Craig’s personal guiding?
